About Colette

Here we go. I stumbled upon the Clarina ladies by accident and I am so glad I did. It's one of the most beautifully portrayed storylines I have seen in a while, true to reality, it burns with passion, I can't wait to see how it evolves.

So I'm just a girl, just a woman. I have opinions on things and I like to dive deep into my own complex thought process and find out why characters do what they do, what they think, hidden agenda's, double meanings. I love to analyze a look, a moment, a process. Sometimes my rambles may seem a bit chaotic, go with it, I need to ramble on until I feel my point is made. :)

Like I said, I'm just a girl with opinions. Those are my own and anyone can either agree with them, or disagree with them completely. I'm perfectly fine with that either way, I invite you to comment and convince me of your point of view. My thoughts are not carved in stone, if you give me a good argument, you may change my mind. Do you have an angle I missed? Tell me about it, comment on the article. If you convince me, I will gladly change my view on things. That's not to say I am easily swayed. If I firmly believe in something, you may not change my mind. If you do, good on you.

I don't write to force my opinion on you or anyone else. If my way of thinking connects to yours, great. If it doesn't, also great. I don't have all the answers, I just have my own thoughts that bring me to my truth. Is your truth different? Tell me why or why not. I would love for people to comment and open a discussion on a subject.

There's only one thing I ask:

Stay polite. Always. If you have a point to make, give arguments. Don't call someone stupid just cause they disagree with you, whether that's me, or someone commenting on an article. Give respect and you'll get it back.

Now who I am, really?

My actual name is Colette, my house is in the Netherlands, more specifically in The Hague. I share my cosy attic with three cats, they are the ones really in charge of this household. I'm just glad they are willing to move two cm when I try to get in bed at night.

I was raised speaking Dutch, was taught English in high school. I'd like to think my English is pretty decent, but I'm sure I make mistakes here and there so forgive me if I do. If forgiveness isn't an option, tell me what I messed up and I will see if I can fix it for you.

I'm also a lesbian. I'm gay, yes, very. I am a lady-loving-lady, been out for a long time to my family, my friends, everyone that knows me as more than a vague acquaintance knows this. I'm lucky enough to be born in a liberal country. Nobody really cares. My mom did, at first. It was hard for her, so I gave her time. She was never against me bringing girls home though, she really tried, wanted everyone to be welcome. As time went on, she got used to it, and when my ex and I broke our relationship off, she was devastated about it cause she adored her. Hoped we'd get back together for a long time after that.

So regarding me being gay, I'm lucky to be where I am. It's not an issue. It's not even a topic of discussion. I know I'm luckier than most, which is why the topic of LGBT-acceptance matters to me.

So that's me in a nutshell. There's much more to me though, but there should be some mystery involved, right?

Hope you enjoy my posts and articles. If not, please tell me why.

  1. So glad you are doing this.

    1. Enjoying your thoughtful observations, and your English is probably better than mine!!

  2. For someone who is not a native speaker of English, I would say your English is quite good, in fact really good :) I am so impressed by your writing style, very detailed like photography or painting or other forms of visual arts using WORDS. Personally, I can clearly picture each situation And emotion that you have analyzed and described from the series ( em familia ) and I have read them all not just once, not just twice but over and over up to this day and will be reading them again. And the other writers who contributed to the fanfic are also doing really well. I am enjoying every article and long forward for more... Kudos to you and the other writers. --------from artchemist
